Lines, Lost & Found is a drawing exhibition featuring Berlin artists who have been part of the magazine's 25-year history. Through their diverse concepts and techniques, they contribute to the ongoing conversation about the role and evolution of drawing in contemporary art. The title reflects the dynamic and unpredictable nature of drawing, where experimentation and discovery are closely linked.
FUKT Magazine is an annual publication dedicated to contemporary drawing. Each issue focuses on a specific theme and includes interviews, essays, and drawings from artists around the world. The magazine was founded in 1999 by artist Bjørn Hegardt and has been co-edited with Creative Director Ariane Spanier since 2006.

PAPER POSITIONS HAMBURG - THE SHOW
29. 09 - 2. 10. 2022
Location: JUPITER - Mönckebergstr. 2 - 4 / 20095 Hamburg
Informations for opening hours and tickets you can find here!
This year, Galerie Martin Mertens is for the first time at Paper Positions Hamburg and is happy to show works by the artist Bettina Krieg.
Bettina Krieg's line drawings evoke many associations. One can think of extremely enlarged hair bundles or waves. In any case, it's all about movement and rhythm. From a technical point of view, the sheets, which can be up to 2 meters in size, are particularly astonishing when you realize that the artist only draws freehand. She doesn't use templates, but sets line by line in a meditative process and lets the wave structures grow associatively over long periods of time. Julia Voss compares the structures in the text for the "Stream" catalog with sound waves and this comparison is probably very accurate, because Bettina says that a picture is finished when it "sounds right" to her. The condensed drawings seem to move optically and are thus reminiscent of Op Art works from the 1960s.
Update: On March 20th, 121 artists contributed works on paper. The incredible turnout and support from the public generated donations amounting to €29050. Payments were made online, directly to the charities listed below; all cash payments were given to spendenbruecke-ukraine.de. All post-fundraiser sales are paid directly to charities. 100% of sales went to charity. This fundraiser was volunteer only.

I am very excited to share this new project LES VOYAGEURS, created by my dear friend and wonderful artist Maximilian Magnus . He is curating and exhibiting different artists at D1 Gallery in Hamburg over the next 18 months.
All works are created together with one of his favorite artists at his studio at Treehousebavaria Artist Residency.
I feel honored, that the first exhibition will be with Maximilian and myself at the gallery D1 Gallery that has especially been created for this project.
The first show will be on Oct 22 this year.
Looking very much forward to seeing you all there.
